REC LEVEL 1 and Rescue Courses

ULLR Backcountry provides Recreation Level One Avalanche and Rescue courses following the American Avalanche Association (A3) guidelines. Learn more about snow pack assessment, weather, terrain, and how these factors contribute to stability. Also, we will ski and split board on fresh powder in the backcountry.

WINTER 2024 Courses & Clinics

The Recreational Level 1 course is the foundation in the A3 (American Avalanche Center) required avalanche education progression. It will provide you with a sound understanding of basic avalanche assessment and rescue. You will learn skills and practice sound judgement to make informed decisions about when to go/not go. You will also learn how to conduct yourself in and around avalanche terrain. With varied terrain, elevations and aspects during training field sessions, the avalanche conditions can range from simple to complex. Course materials included. Instructor to participant ratio is 1:6.
